OpenSUSE launches Smeegol OS based on MeeGo interface
Smeegol Linux, a newcomer from OpenSUSE: the OpenSUSE developers have introduced Smeegol, a Linux operating system incorporating technologies from MeeGo (developed by Intel). It is designed specifically for netbooks, entry-level desktops, handheld computing, and communications devices.
Smeegol resembles MeeGo and includes many applications: Banshee music player, Evolution Express, Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, plus social networking applications for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, and Digg.
Since Smeegol is OpenSUSE Linux with a MeeGo Linux interface, it can install applications from the OpenSUSE repositories. There is no need to worry about finding programs beyond those listed above.
Smeegol is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Download it by clicking here. You can also build your own version of Smeegol using SUSE Studio.
