Yellow Dog Linux (YDL) 6.2 released

Yellow Dog Linux is familiar to many Linux enthusiasts. YDL belongs to the same family as Red Hat and CentOS: it is a Red Hat clone, but is based only on PowerPC architecture and Cell architecture. The new 6.2 release supports PowerPC hardware including the Sony PlayStation 3 and Cell processor computers, including IBM’s Cell blades. It upgrades the 64-bit Linux kernel to 2.6.29 and includes OpenOffice 3.0, Firefox 3.06, and IBM Cell SDK 3.1.0.1. Another highlight of 6.2 is ps3vram performance: using PS3 video RAM for temporary files or swap is 50% faster than in version 6.1.
