Linux Virtualization Hypervisor Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) Raleased 87

On the 25th of last month, KVM released a new version, LVM Release 87 (it sounds as though it has been in development for ages). The main focus is qemu performance, including improved live migration and configurable cluster sizes for qcow2 (the qemu disk image format). Other changes include qcow2 optimization, networking improvements, and merging qemu upstream. Two new features were added:

  1. HTTP support over curl, allowing guest OS installation from an OS image over HTTP.
  2. Additional support for port redirection, adding removal of redirected ports.
