Anti-spam appliances

Anti-spam appliances are hardware devices containing software for managing and fighting email spam. They can be installed as a mail system gateway or placed in front of the mail server. Today’s anti-spam appliances offer more features, such as training them to recognize spam and non-spam messages on a per-account basis, and anti-spam for instant messaging, known as spim. Reasons for choosing anti-spam appliances include:

• Ease of installation, administration, and management
• An anti-spam appliance is already in place
