Install uTorrent on CentOS 6
uTorrent is a widely used BitTorrent client. Years ago it did not support Linux, so running it required Wine. Now uTorrent officially supports Linux. It is operated through a web UI that looks like uTorrent on Windows, but access is only through the web.
Installing uTorrent on CentOS 6
-
Install the required programs.
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ yum install -y wget glibc openssl libgcc unzip -
Create symbolic links for libssl, because the installed OpenSSL version is newer than the one uTorrent uses. For i686:
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 [tum@ezylinux ~]$ ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.10 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8For x86_64:
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ ln -s /usr/lib64/libssl.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib64/libssl.so.0.9.8 [tum@ezylinux ~]$ ln -s /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.10 /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 -
Download uTorrent for Linux and extract it. For i686:
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ wget -qO - http://download.utorrent.com/linux/utorrent-server-3.0-ubuntu-10.10-27079.tar.gz |tar xvzf -For x86_64:
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ wget -qO - http://download.utorrent.com/linux/utorrent-server-3.0-ubuntu-10.10-27079.x64.tar.gz |tar xvzf - -
Enter the utorrent folder and extract webui.zip with:
[tum@ezylinux ~]$ cd utorrent-server-v3_0 [tum@ezylinux utorrent-server-v3_0]$ unzip webui.zip -
Run utserver to start it.
[tum@ezylinux utorrent-server-v3_0]$ ./utserver & -
Open a web browser and visit the URL below to use it.
http://<ip-address>:8080/gui/** user = admin, with no password.
If you see the error below, the symbolic links have not been created. See step 2. [tum@ezylinux utorrent-server-v3_0]$ ./utserver ./utserver: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
