Force fsck on the next boot sequence

To have Linux check every partition’s file system after a reboot, use these commands as root:

  1. Create /forcefsck in the root directory to force a full file system check on the next reboot or startup.

    1. Create /forcefsck with:

      [root@Ezylinux ~]# touch /forcefsck
    2. reboot the system

      [root@Ezylinux ~]# reboot
  2. Use shutdown with -F to force fsck.

    [root@Ezylinux ~]# shutdown -rF now
