How to install whois using yum on CentOS
The whois command queries domain information directly. It helps administrators check domains from the command line, or write scripts to retrieve and inspect information such as domain expiry dates and ownership.
Installing whois with yum is easy. This article covers finding the package through installation, a process you can also apply to other packages.

Find the required package with yum whatprovides followed by */command, here */whois, as shown:

The output shows that jwhois-4.0-19.el6.x86_64 contains whois. Install it with yum install as shown below.
