How to transfer the anti-spam database to another Zimbra server

anti-spamWhen migrating zimbra to a new system or installing a new zimbra server, you can retain spam detection as effective as the previous system by transferring the anti-spam database from the old zimbra server to the new one. Follow the simple steps below. Goal: Help the new zimbra anti-spam system work as effectively as the old system and reduce incorrect spam classifications compared with the old system. To move the anti-spam database from the old zimbra server to the new one:

  1. Run this command on the old Zimbra server:

    [root@ezymailhosting ~]# su - zimbra -c "/opt/zimbra/libexec/sa-learn -p /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf.in --dbpath /opt/zimbra/data/amavisd/.spamassassin/ --siteconfigpath /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin --backup > /tmp/zimbra_q.backup"

This command exports the database to /tmp/zimbra_q.backup.

  2. Copy /tmp/zimbra_q.backup to the new zimbra server, keeping the same filename and path as on the old server.

  3. Run this command on the new zimbra server:

    [root@ezymailhosting ~]# su - zimbra -c "/opt/zimbra/libexec/sa-learn -p /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf.in --dbpath /opt/zimbra/data/amavisd/.spamassassin/ --siteconfigpath /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin --restore /tmp/zimbra_q.backup"
